Sinus Lift

What is a Sinus Lift?

When teeth have been missing from the maxilla for extended periods of time it causes bone loss. That bone loss results in thinning of the sinus wall which makes implant placement difficult if not impossible. The implant would go through the sinus creating an opening between the mouth and sinus cavity. A sinus lift procedure would be performed adding bone to the maxillary sinus floor without invading the sinus membrane. A sinus lift procedure is performed in the mouth, at the base of the roots. The added bone creates greater depth so now the area is optimal for implant placement.
